Golf Tip #13: Putting in Windy Conditions

Putting on a windy day can be difficult. Try these tips the next time you play in these conditions.

Take a wider stance so you won’t be blown off balance. This change will make you closer to the ball so allow for this change in setup by gripping 1cm further down the grip.

Downhill or down wind putts on exposed greens can be fast. Work really hard on the speed of the putt. However don’t be tempted to soften your putts by an off centre strike with the putter. If the ball is struck towards the toe of the putter, the putter face will open at impact and the ball will travel to the right of the target line. The opposite result will be obtained if a heel strike occurs.

Avoid complicating your putting, especially on fast greens in windy conditions.
