Golf Tip #11: Playing Chip Shots

Grip down the club to play the chip shot. It makes it easier to hit the ball and gives you better control.

Set your weight to the leading side and keep it there for this shot.  Chipping is done with the upper body, not the lower body.

Have an open stance and set your hands in front of the ball. Strike the ball solidly. Hit the ball first and the grass next. The loft of the club will lift the ball in the air.

Try to land the ball on a spot about one to two metres on the green and let the ball roll the rest of the way. Experiment with different clubs and note how far the ball runs with each club.
